Maybe you considered moving downtown at some point, but realized that the Upper East Side is the better, safer, more exciting place to live if you’re going to live in Manhattan.

Or maybe you considered moving to Brooklyn.

Some people think that there’s no better place in New York City than Brooklyn. But people living on the Upper East Side would certainly have something to say about that I would imagine.

No matter what your reasons for moving uptown, please know that living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is certainly an amazing opportunity if you’re ready for the experience.

There are plenty of marvelous restaurants and bars and many other entertaining things to do in the area. And it’s a great place to raise your children as well while living in Manhattan.

We will now take a closer look at the Upper East Side and discover why it’s such a great place to live when residing in Manhattan.

Central Park!

It wouldn’t make sense to start this off anywhere other than Central Park.

Depending on the time of the year, there are many, many things to do in this amazing natural wonderland in the middle of Manhattan.

If the weather is warm enough, you could always take a trip through the Central Park Zoo. It’s always fun to look at the animals and there’s certainly nothing wrong with taking your kids, family, and friends to the zoo on a warm summer day.

If you’re a jogger, you can run along the jogging paths at any time of the year. Bundle up if it’s cold outside because we certainly reach freezing temperatures in Central Park in the middle of the winter.

And if it’s warm outside, feel free to wear comfortable, cool clothing so that you do not burn up and overheat.

Always dress accordingly when jogging through Central Park.

If it’s the middle of the winter, ice skating is certainly a fun activity that many people take advantage of in Central Park. Get together with your friends and loved ones and go skating on an enjoyable weekend or weekday afternoon.

And if you have little ones, feel free to bring them to the Central Park carousel. This Central Park staple is a lot of fun for the kids.

It’s in the Victorian Gardens right in the middle of Central Park. Besides the carousel, the kids can enjoy many other rides and attractions. And they can even play games and try to win great prizes.

As you can see, Central Park is a huge attraction when living on the Upper East Side. This amazing location alone is reason enough to move here if you aren’t convinced already.

Enjoy Restaurants and Sidewalk Cafés

If you definitely plan to move to the Upper East Side, be prepared to become a regular on the restaurant scene. There are so many fine dining establishments in this part of Manhattan that it’s impossible not to run into one on every corner.

Besides great restaurants, there are also many wonderful sidewalk cafés.

As a matter of fact, the Upper East Side seems to really be making a comeback right now and many people are starting to say that it’s even cooler to live here than in Brooklyn.

As far as sidewalk cafés are concerned, there are many great options for you to enjoy. And obviously they are more enjoyable when the weather is warmer, but they are still great places to go to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.

Some of our favorite restaurants on the Upper East Side include: Heidi’s House by the Side of the Road, Up Thai, Blake Lane, Boqueria, Pye Boat Noodle, Maroni Hot Pots, Little Frog Bistro & Bar and many more.

More than anything else, you will enjoy the amazing restaurants and sidewalk cafés that you can literally find on nearly every corner. There are so many great places to eat that it’s hard to pick just one.

So you’re going to spend a lot of time checking out the local fine dining establishments when you move to this part of Manhattan. Do yourself a favor and try to pace yourself. You’re in this for the long haul, so don’t overdo it right off the bat!

When it comes to the best apartments available on the Upper East Side, we only recommend one location above all others.
